There is a lot that goes on in the Old Testament. With 39 books, this introduction course obviously can’t cover everything. This intro class goes through the history of the Old Testament, or at least the highlights of that history. That means that we won’t examine the wisdom books (Psalms, Proverbs, etc.) nor will we look at the prophets. This introductory course covers the major players and the major events of the Old Testament.
Here’s the outline for the course.
Each week you’ll have reading to do and discussion questions to answer regarding the week’s topic. You’ll also write two short papers of 500-1000 words. The first will be on the incredible pictures of Jesus contained within the tabernacle. The second will involve the rebuilding of Jerusalem in Ezra and Nehemiah’s time.
Things needed for this course:
- A Bible
Some optional books that will add to your learning:
- In the Beginning: Compelling Evidence for Creation and the Flood
- A History of Israel: From the Bronze Age Through the Jewish Wars
- An Introduction to the Old Testament Pentateuch
